Selective color photography is the kind of photography where one particular area of the photo is featured in full colors while the rest are left in black and white. This is achieved by using layers and masks in a photo editing software. While not fully transforming the photograph into monochrome, the photo of this kind has a more dramatic effect because it draws the attention of the audience towards the specific part of the photograph. Being so, it can makes the photograph more meaningful or poetic. By making something stand out, a selective color photograph evokes more emotion than it ordinary photos do.
