In the first place, we do not know even know if we will reach the point of time when we have magnificent metropolis that can support the needs of modern living. With the massive exploitation of our environment and the rising of sea levels, the future really looks grim.
Good thing, there are technologies that promise to avert doomsday scenarios. But until they can be developed and effectively put in place, we are doomed.
